- ➤ Early next year, the U.S. Department of Education will resume wage garnishment for about 1,000 defaulting borrowers, which may affect local residents (228,800 borrowers with $7.4 billion in student debt) as officials expect the number in default to increase monthly. MetroNews
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ West Virginia will receive $199 million in 2026 from the Rural Health Transformation Fund, a federal grant designed to boost rural health care based on local need (Gov. Patrick Morrisey said the money will help expand access and improve care). Kentucky and Ohio will also receive similar awards. WSAZ
- ➤ Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced on Monday that West Virginia will get $199 million from the Rural Health Transformation Fund for 2026 to rebuild and modernize health care statewide — though the grant offsets only 20% of Medicaid cuts from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Charleston Gazette-Mail
