- ➤ Dutch Miller Auto & Facing Hunger Foodbank teamed up to provide food support for local families, with Cyndi Kirkart explaining that the partnership will boost distribution throughout the community. WSAZ
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The West Virginia State Parks Foundation (est. 1998) received a $50,000 grant from the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation to bolster its structure and advocacy for preserving 39 state parks for free public use. MetroNews
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former state senator Larry Edgell died Wednesday. He represented the 2nd Senatorial District from 1998 to 2014 and was known as an educator & veteran who lifted others through his service. WSAZ
- ➤ Local officials shared ATV safety tips yesterday and encouraged riders to use helmets and follow proper guidelines for safe riding on local trails. The advice comes as part of ongoing efforts to promote safety in our community. WSAZ
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Marshall University’s Jack Cook Field in Huntington will host the 2026 WVSSAC State Baseball Championships from June 6-13 as part of a new three-year agreement. Local officials say the move is expected to enhance the tournament experience for student-athletes and fans. MetroNews
- ➤ Meigs County native Mike Bartrum was hired Friday as the new head football coach for Rio Grande following an 0-9 season. He will meet with the team in January to rebuild the program (Bartrum spent 13 years in the NFL). WSAZ
