COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The WSAZ and WQCW antenna failed on Dec. 12, 2025, forcing the stations to use a backup transmitter that may limit reception for viewers north and east of the tower (tower crew access for repairs is not available until after the new year). WSAZ
- ➤ The Children's Advocacy Center held an open house Wednesday in Charleston to mark 20 years of service. The center (established in 2005 as the state's first hospital-based advocacy facility) has long helped children facing abuse. WSAZ
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ In Hurricane, a semi misdirected by faulty GPS drove into a residential yard on Monday, damaging property and nearly hitting a water meter, and officials plan to work with the state on extra signs (as recent incidents have raised safety concerns). WCHS-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Foundry Theater staged a special performance of The Good Time Christmas Carol last night—featuring local talent including Justin McElroy as Scrooge and Tim Irr as Marley—and donated $5 per ticket sold to local charities. WSAZ
- ➤ MUZ Collective celebrated its grand opening on Thursday night in Huntington by unveiling its new art gallery and fashion boutique. The venue now offers local art and updated fashion, inviting community visitors. WSAZ
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas bills and construction costs have risen, raising energy affordability concerns. Gas and Oil Association president Charlie Burd delivered a pro-industry outlook at the state Joint Energy and Public Works Committee meeting on Dec. 8 following several plant and pipeline project announcements.
