COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On December 8, 1985, 14 TV stations statewide hosted a five-hour telethon that raised over $500,000 (flood relief funds) for victims in Parsons and Marlinton, and John Denver closed the event by singing 'Country Roads.'  WSAZ
  • Free parking is offered this weekend in downtown Huntington for Christmas shoppers visiting local stores. The initiative aims to boost holiday shopping in the community.  WSAZ

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Pho Yummy is opening today (at 21 Tanyard Station in Barboursville) and will offer Vietnamese cuisine with a 10% discount on pho dishes. The restaurant replaces Guadalajara Modern Mexican and will serve fresh, flavorful food to the local community.  WCHS-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Six participants completed Cabell County Drug Court's one-year recovery program yesterday at the Cabell County Courthouse in Huntington. Family and friends celebrated the graduation, and the graduates now begin six months of aftercare (their progress marks an important step in recovery).  WCHS-TV

  • Megan Corns (owner of Sippin’ Suite) previewed the holiday drink menu on First Look at Four, showcasing festive beverage options available in Huntington this season.  WSAZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • West Virginia dominated its season finale against Texas Southern, winning 109-40 Monday at Hope Coliseum with six players scoring in double figures and Kierra 'MeMe' Wheeler adding a season-high 23 points. The team will face Georgia Tech and Texas A&M next as they begin Big 12 play.  MetroNews
