- ➤ Twelvepole Trading Post will offer pre-made gift boxes with locally-sourced tea, coffee, cookies, and pepperoni rolls from November 29 to Christmas as it celebrates its fifth anniversary. The store will be open every Saturday (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) from this weekend until Christmas. WSAZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, in 1861, the first Constitutional Convention met to lay the framework for West Virginia by naming counties—such as Kanawha and Cabell—and planning its separation from Virginia. The gathering set the stage for West Virginia to join the union in June. WSAZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ River Park Hospital announced that Barboursville School, a psychiatric facility for children 12—17 in Cabell County, will close in February due to flooding and high renovation costs. Officials are working with the Department of Human Services to move the eight current patients from the 22-bed facility to other placements while exploring future service options. WCHS-TV
