- ➤ Students at Spring Hill Elementary picked out free coats on November 7th as nearly 700 donated coats organized by Councilmember Teresa Johnson became available. - ➤ The Child Development Academy at Marshall University held its 'It’s a Small World' event at 3:30 p.m. yesterday at 520 22nd St—families and guests celebrated the many cultures of the community. WSAZ
- ➤ Poca High School hosted its annual Veterans Day assembly on November 7 at 10:30 a.m.—retired Air Force Major William J. Bess spoke, the band, show choir and Rock Branch Elementary choir performed, and veterans enjoyed a chili-soup dinner as a special veteran was honored. WSAZ

- ➤ Work on Fort Hill Bridge is causing major delays for drivers in Huntington—officials say the repairs are ongoing and advise travelers to plan ahead. WSAZ
- ➤ Bridge work on I-64 Westbound is causing traffic delays and congestion on I-77 Northbound near mile marker 100—no additional details were provided. WSAZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Huntington residents are urged to follow safe food handling practices as they prepare for Thanksgiving feasts—experts advise proper cleaning, cooking, and storage to avoid foodborne illness—guidelines such as correct temperatures and hand washing are key. WSAZ
- ➤ Since Jan. 1, 2025, the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health reported 126 whooping cough cases across the state with the highest concentration in the western region and a median age of 12 years. The bureau said 18% of cases involve infants under 12 months—22% have led to hospitalization. WSAZ
