Food pantries in Huntington and Charleston are facing an influx of customers as SNAP payments are delayed because of the government shutdown—Heart and Hand in South Charleston started a Food Pantry Cohort and Facing Hunger is providing mobile distributions in Huntington.
The Huntington Museum of Art is dedicating its improved sensory trail today at 5 p.m.—a pathway designed to help wheelchair and walker users safely enjoy the outdoors.
The project was supported by funders including the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Wing 2 Wing Foundation, and the James H. and Alice Teubert Charitable Trust.

Gov. Patrick Morrisey said today that West Virginia is funding food banks and deploying the National Guard as federal SNAP benefits are disrupted.
He noted that $14.1 million has been pledged so far, with $8.6 million delivered, and warned he may call the Legislature for more funds if needed—ensuring that no West Virginian goes hungry.
The state Public Service Commission granted negotiators in the $80 million Hope Gas rate case an extension to reach a settlement that may add about $21 to monthly bills for current residential customers and about $27 for former Peoples Gas customers—if the parties do not settle, the evidentiary hearing will reconvene in Charleston today at 9:30 a.m.— as officials work to avoid a prolonged hearing.

Marshall won 2 to 0 over Central Florida Tuesday night at Hoops Family Field — the win secured a No. 3 seed for the Sun Belt Tournament and a quarterfinal matchup with Georgia State Sunday in Morgantown.
Barboursville Mayor Chris Tatum said the village is planning the design of a new indoor sports facility at Barboursville Park following an initial phase that added turf fields and press boxes.
The project will allow for various sporting events—ground will break once the design phase is complete.
West Virginia improved its offensive line play in last Saturday’s 45-35 win at Houston as the team rushed for 246 yards and gained 403 total yards.
The strong showing earned the Mountaineers their first road win over a ranked team since 2018, with coach Rich Rodriguez praising the players for their better run blocking.
