- ➤ Starting Nov. 10, eight local grocery stores will launch a free meal program that offers ready dinner bags on weekdays and ingredient packs on weekends to help families with food access. Store owner Jamason Sparks said the program comes after delayed SNAP benefits and a federal shutdown — it will continue indefinitely. WSAZ
- ➤ On Saturday, trick or treaters gathered at Ritter Park for the fourth annual Halloween Candy Crane Drop organized by the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District — Mayo Tree Company supplied hundreds of pounds of candy for five bucket fill chances. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Monday the state Department of Education began its Keep the Ball Rolling events at Marshall University — Bill Noe Aviation School at Yeager Airport in Charleston, providing each school $1,500 through Communities in Schools to support student needs. Today an event is set for Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley and further events will be held at Wheeling Park High School and Keyser High School as local donations totaling about $1 million boost essential supplies.
