- ➤ On this date in 1959, noted educator Byrd Prillerman was born in Huntington. He later helped establish West Virginia State University—serving as the school’s president until his retirement in 1919. WSAZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Breast cancer survivor and nurse Jessica Huffman is teaming up with delegate Walter Hall to reintroduce a bill that would require insurers to cover cooling caps in West Virginia. The proposal, modeled after New York’s law, will be considered when the legislative session begins on Jan. 12 — and it aims to reduce hair loss during chemotherapy. WCHS-TV
- ➤ Secretary of Commerce Matt Herridge said he is happy with West Virginia’s rising economy and growing contractor licenses + new small business starts, which give the state the strength to attract more energy jobs and companies.
