- ➤ A different type of church service is coming to Huntington’s riverfront—organizers David Frazie, Fred Scites and Beau Miller discussed the new Huntington Tri-State Tent Revival. WSAZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Marshall University began Homecoming Week with a Unity Walk and Homecoming Court announcement, and plans include a parade led by local alumnus Jim Thornton—who is a Huntington native—as well as a bonfire and a meet-up at Jim’s Spaghetti from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A football game against Texas State will take place on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to bring students and community members together. - ➤ Marshall University’s Homecoming Week kicked off on October 13th with the annual Unity Walk—students and staff marched from the Marshall Recreation Center to the Memorial Student Center. The event was themed Wheel of Thunder and featured alum Jim Thornton as Grand Marshal—with the Homecoming Court to be announced following the walk. WSAZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Out of Darkness is planning a walk to fight suicide by raising awareness and offering support to those affected. Organizers expect the event to unite local residents—focusing on mental health and better resources for those in need. WSAZ
- ➤ An annual breast cancer awareness program was held Sunday as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sponsored by the Women’s Ministry of the Full Gospel Assembly, the event featured local survivors sharing testimonies and a keynote speech by Dr. Mary Legenza from Marshall Health Network’s Joan C. - ➤ Valley Health is teaming up with a local non-profit to support Ukraine by donating medical supplies—needles, syringes, and gowns—that were sent overseas by Sunflower Seeds Inc. The organization reached a major milestone by sending $100,000 in humanitarian aid to help those affected by the war. WSAZ
