GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Patrick Morrisey said that West Virginia reached an agreement with the National Park Service on Friday to keep its two national parks fully open during the government shutdown—ensuring visitors can enjoy these outdoor spaces. WSAZ
- ➤ Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced a donation agreement that will use nearly $100k from the state’s contingency fund to keep New River Gorge and Harpers Ferry National Parks open for 14 days amid the federal shutdown. Officials said the cost—about $7,000 per day—is justified by the tourism revenue these parks bring. WSAZ
- ➤ Drivers on I-64 in Cabell County faced lane and ramp closures as crews began shifting traffic onto new Guyandotte River bridges Friday at 7 p.m.—the right lanes east from Merritts Creek exit to 29th Street were closed with only one westbound lane open overnight. The on- and off-ramps near Huntington remain closed, and all lane and ramp closures will reopen Saturday morning between 6 and 7 a.m. WSAZ

- ➤ In West Virginia high school football Week6, George Washington rallied from a 17 to 9 halftime deficit to beat Parkersburg by a score of 37 to 30 and Princeton stayed undefeated with a 59 to 21 win while Huntington earned a 38 to 6 victory as Tayveon Wilson threw four touchdown passes — teams such as Butler, UHS, Woodrow Wilson and Roane County also recorded wins as the season progressed.
