- ➤ On Tuesday, Westmoreland volunteers gathered in Huntington for Project Lights On—an effort to check streetlights and report outages to make dark areas safer. Resident Cindy Chandler and Councilman Jason Arthur said the work helped find needed repairs and guide future fixes. WSAZ
- ➤ Local residents are joining Project Lights on to remind neighbors to follow burning laws during the drought as Forest Fire Prevention Season begins today — officials believe these efforts will help reduce wildfire risks, and organizers plan further outreach through the season. WSAZ

- ➤ Hugh Roberts, a high school carpentry teacher at Cabell County Career Technology Center in Huntington, was surprised with the $100,000 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence on Tuesday morning (with $70,000 awarded to the school’s skilled trades program and the rest to him). - ➤ Marshall University’s HATS Program that helps middle and high school students in Wayne and Mason counties get college-access support has been awarded more than $341,000 in federal funding for the 2025–26 school year—ensuring the program continues into the next academic year.
