- ➤ A new business, Dough Daddy’s Fun Center, experienced high water for the third time on Wednesday evening as flood water entered the building along 5th Avenue—manager Evan Salyers said fast-moving vehicles created waves at the doors. He added the company is set to open in mid-October while the city works on flood control improvements at the wastewater treatment plant. WSAZ

- ➤ Joseph Payton joined Shannon Litton on the WSAZ NOW Desk (September 25th) to preview Week 6 of Fired Up Friday 2025 (a local TV event) and offered insights that set the stage for the upcoming broadcast. WSAZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Traffic is heavy today in Huntington as a road widening project resumes on U.S. 60 — work expected to cause delays for motorists. Local officials say the construction will continue into next week with ongoing disruptions. WSAZ
- ➤ Construction for a new boat ramp and slips will begin soon; local officials say the project will improve river access—benefiting local families. WSAZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, Cabell County hosted Save a Life Day—an event where SPECO and Marshall Collegiate Recovery Community provided free lifesaving resources to local residents. WSAZ
- ➤ The West Virginia Bureau of Public Health reported 38 outbreaks of hand, foot and mouth disease this year – 17 of them since September 1 – and warned that the virus spreads easily through droplets and contaminated surfaces, particularly affecting infants and children. WSAZ
- ➤ Valley Health expanded services at its Pea Ridge Medical Complex on U.S. 60 in Huntington by cutting the ribbon on a new Heart and Vascular Center — and Center for Senior Wellness. The centers are now accepting patients and offer advanced cardiovascular care as well as screenings and dementia assessments for older adults. WSAZ

- ➤ On this date in 1971, Marshall University’s football team beat Xavier for its first win after the 1970 plane crash—made by a team of mostly freshmen just 10 months after the tragedy. That win later served as the basis for the movie We Are Marshall and remains a legendary moment in local sports history. WSAZ
