GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Huntington City Council held the first reading on an ordinance Monday to annex the new Meadows Elementary school property and two nearby roadways—Cabell County Board of Education requested the move to ensure better protection for students. - ➤ Today, the State Supreme Court of Appeals will reconvene on Marshall’s campus to hear oral arguments for three cases including one on involuntary medication orders, an appeal on summary judgment, and a review of a sentencing rights issue—approximately 200 local students will watch and ask questions after the proceedings. - ➤ The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission announced that beginning in 2026, the state high school baseball championships will be hosted at Jack Cook Field on Marshall University’s campus through 2028 with an option for 2029—selected after a statewide bid that named Huntington and Marshall, with the 2026 tournament set from June 6 to 13.
