- ➤ On Saturday, hundreds gathered at Cabell County Courthouse to honor the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated on Sept. 10 at a Utah college campus—Councilwoman Stacy Jo Holley said the vigil preserves his legacy. WCHS-TV
- ➤ The old Milton Elementary School was moved because a section in a flood zone caused the relocation, and the building is now a recreation center hosting basketball, plays, and birthday parties — part of the center is used for storage while the city rents out rooms and sells old furniture to cut utility costs. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ More than 300 West Virginia National Guard members have supported Operation DC Safe and Beautiful in Washington, D.C. and are scheduled to be released from active duty by November 30 while the mission may last until late November. MetroNews
- ➤ Gov. Patrick Morrisey’s 50 by 50 energy plan will boost West Virginia’s capacity from 15 to 50 gigawatts by 2050 and has drawn strong reactions from coal leaders who see it as a major policy change from past administrations. Coal producers are now revising production forecasts and consulting with training programs to meet rising energy demand. MetroNews

- ➤ The West Virginia Supreme Court is expected to issue its decision later this year on a case about Vandalia Health’s plan to build a new Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital near Weston — the $56 million, 29-bed facility is planned at the Rt. 33/I-79 junction. - ➤ Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that West Virginia will ask residents and healthcare providers for input on its formal application for the Rural Health Transformation Program, which will distribute $50 billion over five years and could bring at least $100 million per year to rural hospitals.
