- ➤ Crews are working on a water main break in the alley near the 300 block of Adams Avenue in Huntington — no repair schedule has been provided. WSAZ
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, union coal miners approved five-year contracts with ACNR and Iron Senergy for 2,000 UMWA members in West Virginia, Ohio—and at one mine in Pennsylvania. The deals were reached after tough negotiations to secure key benefits for the workers. MetroNews
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Marshall University’s School of Pharmacy will host vaccine clinics on Sept. 29 and Oct. 3; the clinics will offer flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccines to students, faculty and the public and will accept insurance (vouchers are available for financial help). WSAZ
- ➤ Marshall University received a $50 million donation from President Brad Smith and first lady Alys Smith on September 16 — the gift will help fund new projects at the school. WSAZ

- ➤ State Treasurer Larry Pack presented unclaimed property checks today at Huntington City Hall, awarding over $50,000 to the city and its police department—funds that will support local law enforcement as part of the $25 million in unclaimed property waiting in Huntington. WSAZ

- ➤ The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities board released its first 2025 high school football computer rankings after a three-week sample — the list shows team records across classes with Morgantown leading the AAA1 division. WSAZ
- ➤ Delainey Burger, a sophomore at Hurricane, was named Wendy’s Student Athlete of the Week for running cross country, playing basketball, and participating in track. She was a state champion on the 4x800 relay team at Cabell Midland High School and holds a 4.0 GPA — showing her excellence both in sports and academics. WSAZ
- ➤ Marshall defensive back Boogie Trotter intercepted passes — sparking a 38-7 win over Eastern Kentucky at Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Saturday night.
