  • Cabell County Schools said work to install a new transformer at Cabell-Midland High School will take longer after power units blew Friday—canceling the football game against George Washington—and crews are waiting for a crane to move the unit so the Homecoming dance may be held at school unless it is moved to another location. The update comes after a Friday incident that left the school without power for the football game.  MetroNews

  • Huntington is seeking vendors with architectural and engineering expertise — the city is asking for a flood mitigation study along Fourpole Creek that will form the basis of a master plan — to help guide its future flood reduction efforts.  Charleston Gazette-Mail

  • Marshall beat Eastern Kentucky 38-7 on Saturday night — Carlos Del Rio-Wilson threw two touchdown passes and rushed for a score as first-year coach Tony Gibson earned his first win.  WSAZ
  • Today, WVU beat Pitt in overtime after trailing 24-17 until an 87-yard drive tied the game—WVU scored first in extra time to win the Backyard Brawl. Tye Edwards ran for 141 yards and three touchdowns while the quarterbacks combined for 260 passing yards.  WSAZ
