ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Emergency crews responded to a four vehicle crash on Interstate 64 east in Cabell County near the Spring Valley bridge at mile marker 5 that was reported at 7:15 a.m. on Aug. 28—police, EMS and fire units arrived while traffic slowed.  WSAZ

  • Today, Bow Love Boutique has its soft opening at Huntington Mall as it expands its space down the JCPenney Hallway next to Torrid ahead of its grand opening tomorrow at 12 p.m.—the store offers a lifestyle shopping experience with curated fashion, homecoming gowns, beauty products, and gourmet snacks.  WSAZ
  • Senator Capito and Governor Morrisey attended the Business Summit at The Greenbrier Resort where Capito said the Legislature did not focus enough on job creation while Morrisey said his administration will improve the economic fundamentals by lowering business barriers—both officials stressed that these steps will help West Virginia compete globally. The officials’ remarks highlighted the state’s need for a more consistent development approach.  MetroNews

  • Huntington is preparing for tens of thousands of fans coming to the Joan C. Edwards Stadium for the Zach Bryan concert in two days—police are managing traffic for the event.  WSAZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Nick Joe Rahall II Bridge at 17th Street West in Huntington will close every night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Sept. 2 through Sept. 5 for its annual safety inspection—temporary signals and channelizer cones will manage traffic during these hours.  WCHS-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The 1-800-Gambler helpline in Huntington marked its 25th anniversary on August 28 and has helped many overcome gambling addiction—Shelia Moran from First Choice Services discussed its milestone.  WSAZ
  • Vandalia Health is set to expand services around the Kanawha Valley with Teays Valley Hospital adding 20 beds and new surgery and endoscopy suites while facilities in Charleston receive planned upgrades. Future projects include new radiation therapy at the CAMC Cancer Center and the start of the CAMC Neuroscience Institute before year's end — improvements aimed at enhancing treatment options in the region.  MetroNews
