  • The City of Huntington and Greater Huntington Park & Recreation District will host Fit Fest 2025 in Huntington to honor the memory of Dr. Paul Ambrose with a kids' fun run, bike rodeo and other activities.  The Wayne County News

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was hospitalized at CAMC with a gunshot wound after state troopers confronted him early Tuesday at a Subway restaurant near the Ghent exit in Raleigh County—troopers reported he was acting erratically and was armed with a handgun.  MetroNews

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Explorer Academy students returned to their school building on August 26—after staying at the Cabell County Central Office because of a mold discovery, WSAZ reported.  WSAZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Cabell County officials met at the Barboursville Fire Department to discuss upcoming I-64 construction that will reduce lanes after 7 p.m. on most days — including work at Guyandotte Bridge near Merritts Creek. Fire Chief Andrew Frazier noted more accidents near the 20-mile marker west of the Huntington Mall and urged drivers to slow down in work zones.  WSAZ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Marshall & WVU are in the top ten rankings after winning their opening matches, with Marshall staying at number two and WVU moving to number ten after beating La Salle in Morgantown. Both teams will face other ranked opponents on Friday as Marshall hosts Virginia Tech & WVU travels to Akron.  WSAZ
