CRIME NEWS

  • Three officers were taken to hospital after a fentanyl arrest yesterday.  WSAZ
  • A former officer was indicted on seven felony charges—authorities said he will soon appear in court as they continue their investigation.  WSAZ
  • Billy Cadle III, accused of first degree murder for killing Michael Ols at a home on Walnut Valley Drive in Putnam County in March, had his trial delayed—he will have a status hearing on Sept. 2 with a new trial date yet to be set.  WSAZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cabell County Schools changed its lunch trays to follow a new state law banning some food dyes even before the ban took effect. The new meal plan — which offers free breakfast and lunch and includes a farm-to-school program — will be tested now that schools are in session.  MetroNews
  • The Huntington Children's Museum unveiled a new exhibit called Little City Hall that teaches kids how local government works by letting them explore a map, speak at a podium and dress like officials. A bright mural by Marshall University students adds to the display—visitors can go to 17 Washington Ave while the museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  WSAZ

  • Local officials reported that the Lincoln County sheriff died on August 21st at 4:07 p.m. EDT and no further details about his death have been released.  WSAZ

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A new housing development named Woodworth Farms will begin construction in Hurricane with over 400 for-sale units as part of a partnership between the Putnam County Development Authority and Stonewall Capital. Ward Communities has been selected to lead the project and will use local subcontractors to help meet the growing housing need in the area—an effort that moves toward reaching a target of 20,000 for-sale units by 2028.  MetroNews
