  • Willie’s at the Paddock hosted a 'Paw Wash' fundraiser on Aug. 19 to support the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter—Bill Johnson, Halie Holstine, and Lindsey Thomas introduced adoptable dog Janella.  WSAZ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Paul Linville, a Milton city worker, died on Aug. 7 when the hole he was working in collapsed—Milton officials now say that city workers do not have automatic OSHA protection and plan to buy safety equipment as state lawmakers consider changing the rules in January.  WSAZ

CRIME NEWS

  • A shooting occurred in the 500 block of 6th Avenue yesterday morning—police have been searching the area.  WSAZ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Virginia State University and Marshall University held their first day of classes on Monday as students began their new terms.  WSAZ
  • Explorer Academy students attended their first day of classes yesterday at the Cabell County Schools’ Central Office because mold in their building delayed reopening. County officials said they are taking extra safety steps by using temporary classrooms—until the school reopens.  WSAZ

  • Tammy Collins—of Marshall University’s Research Corporation—visited First Look at Four to share how the Center of Excellence for Recovery is helping young people in West Virginia.  WSAZ
