- ➤ Samantha Thomas, 28, pleaded guilty Tuesday to child neglect that led to a 10-month-old’s death from heroin intoxication in 2019 — her sentencing is set for August 18. WCHS-TV

- ➤ The school discipline bill signed into law went into effect on July 2nd and will be implemented when classes resume for the 2025-2026 school year—teachers now have the authority to exclude disruptive students to review their conduct with principals and behavioral experts. - ➤ State Treasurer Larry Pack announced a large increase in Hope Scholarship awards for the 2025 to 2026 academic year, with nearly 15,000 students set to receive full funding instead of the 10,750 who were funded last year. - ➤ Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power asked the PSC for a $250.5 million rate increase that would add about $23.74 to a typical monthly bill for 1,000 kilowatt-hours of use.
