- ➤ The Carter G. Woodson Memorial Foundation is restoring the home at 10th Avenue and 17th Street in Huntington so it can become a museum for learning about Memphis Tennessee Garrison—a civil rights leader who helped shape our community. The exterior work is complete with help from the National Park Service, and the foundation will soon finish the interior with donated 1900s period pieces—a project that honors her legacy. WSAZ

- ➤ Brian Chandler shared food safety tips for summer cookouts in Putnam County by advising that grills be cleaned and raw meats kept separate from cooked ones—he stressed that keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold prevents food-borne illness.
