  • After a heavy flash flood caused damage in parts of the city, neighbors rallied to clean up their community—residents expressed feelings of helplessness as they worked side by side to restore the area.  WSAZ
  • The first ever West Virginia Coffee Festival took place Saturday at Valley Park in Hurricane where local roasters gathered in the park’s ballroom to sell coffee, espresso, and snacks to a packed parking lot. Ashton Mobley, who began planning the event in December, said the festival boosted tourism in Putnam County + across the state and left plans for next year uncertain.  WOWK-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Barboursville firefighters responded to a kitchen fire at Christopher's Eats on Route 60 Saturday afternoon as employees evacuated and crews used 20 gallons of water+ quickly put out the flames with little damage and no injuries.  WOWK-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The West Virginia Bureau of Public Health warns that some residents may have been exposed to measles after an international traveler landed at Washington Dulles International Airport on June 19th. Officials said the possible exposure areas include Concourse A and the departures area and advised residents to watch for symptoms — fever, runny nose, cough and watery red eyes — from June 26 to July 10.  WSAZ
