ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash on Interstate 64 near the Cabell—Putnam County line east of the Milton exit caused delays Monday morning; Cabell County 911 said one vehicle was involved and no injuries were reported.  WSAZ

CRIME NEWS

  • Huntington police are investigating a shooting on the 700 block of Jackson Avenue that occurred yesterday when one person was hospitalized in serious condition after a dispute involving several individuals + multiple firearms, and the Criminal Investigation Bureau is asking for community tips.  WSAZ
  • A shooting victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds during a dispute involving several people and guns on Sunday afternoon at the 700 block of Jackson Avenue in Huntington—police said everyone involved has been identified and the case remains under investigation.  MetroNews

FINANCE NEWS

  • Peter Shirley from the Department of Revenue said state officials expect rising budget pressures from public employees’ insurance costs—increasing by $49 million in fiscal 27 and $56 million in fiscal 28—and from the Hope Scholarship base build, estimated at $190 million, while federal tax and program changes may add further strain. Officials will watch enrollment numbers and rebate claims closely as they plan for the future.  MetroNews

  • Huntington city officials announced a new downtown safety initiative on Monday that will increase foot and bike patrol and add a police precinct at Pullman Square—following local feedback to boost safety.
