Adams Hallmark is selling its West Virginia stores to Pam’s Hallmark Shoppes on July 1, 2025 + the new owners will retain all employees to keep serving local customers at locations including Huntington Mall.

At the corner of 8th Street and 5th Avenue in Huntington, Wayne Worth celebrates West Virginia Day by waving at passing drivers and reminding them of the state that gave him family and opportunities—he carries on a tradition that honors the personal impact West Virginia has had in his life.

Dr. Ashley Stephens and Brian Casto from Cabell County Schools appeared on First Look at Four yesterday to share ideas for teaching children about West Virginia Day — suggestions that highlight the state's history and traditions.

Their tips aim to guide families on how to celebrate this important day.

Today, a scavenger hunt and ride will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a $20 fee per vehicle on the Memorial Fountain route—benefiting the 75 Legacy Scholarship Fund that helps descendants attend Marshall free of charge.

Participants will submit photo entries by 5:00 p.m. at the Fire and Iron Station clubhouse—organizers say the event honors the memory of those lost in the Marshall team plane crash.

Public Service Commission members held hearings on a pending $250.5 million rate increase request from Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power that would add $23.74 & 13.54% to the bill of an average residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours if approved.

The request follows a 207% cost increase that raised bills from $55.28 in 2005 to $169.69 in 2024.
