  • State Treasurer Larry Park reminded parents that the full funding Hope Scholarship application for the 2025-2026 school year is due this Sunday, June 15th, and noted that students will receive an increased award of $5,267.38 while later deadlines for partial awards are set using a structured timeline & clear guidelines.  MetroNews

  • Gov. Patrick Morrisey said on Friday that West Virginia State Police and the National Guard are standing ready for political protests planned over the weekend — he supports free speech but will not tolerate vandalism or violence.   • Winfield pitcher Mattie Carroll was named Player of the Year by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association after leading the Generals to their third straight state championship.   • Marshall has hired Steve Snell—a former assistant from 1996 to 2001 with over 30 years of college coaching experience—as an assistant coach for the 2025-26 men’s basketball season.
