- ➤ Multiple firefighting crews responded to a structure fire in the 1800 block of Pleasant View Road in Huntington around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night—firefighters from Barboursville, Ohio River Road, Ona, Green Valley Volunteer Fire Department and local EMS arrived and reported no injuries or trapped individuals. - ➤ The West Virginia Coffee Festival at Valley Park is facing scams as fake sellers target ticketholders and vendors, and marketing assistant Ashton Mobley warned (customers should only buy tickets directly) while the festival will open on Saturday, June 28 (tickets sold out in two days). WOWK-TV

- ➤ The West Virginia University baseball team beat #11 Clemson nine to six after coming back from a five to four deficit and is one win away from the super regionals. The Mountaineers will play the winner of the Kentucky and Clemson game tonight and a winner take all game will be held on Monday if they lose. WSAZ
- ➤ Cabell Midland won the Class AAAA state softball title with a 2–0 win over Jefferson on May 31 as pitcher Audrea Watts struck out 14 batters while allowing 7 hits—securing the team's sixth state title and keeping their postseason record unbeaten at 29–3. The Knights, the top-ranked team in the MetroNews Coaches poll, scored their runs late in the game, breaking a scoreless tie that lasted into the fifth inning. MetroNews
- ➤ The WVSSAC baseball tournament will begin Thursday, June 5 at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston — marking the final state championship with all three classes competing this year. Next year the tournament will expand to 32 teams — changing the state sports schedule for boys’ baseball. WSAZ
