  • A boat ramp in Cabell County reopened after a local news story aired earlier this week (officials confirmed its availability), and the facility now welcomes boaters for public use.  WSAZ
  • Project Hope will host a brunch and fashion show fundraiser in Huntington to support local women and children. Director Katy Maynard discussed the event at First Look at Four, and more details on participation are expected soon.  WSAZ
  • Local officials announced that the athletic complex received state funding for planned upgrades, with work scheduled to begin soon – a move expected to boost community sports and local athlete opportunities.  WSAZ

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices are averaging $4.094 a gallon in West Virginia amid global oil disruptions from conflicts affecting shipments (with some areas near $4.2). Sen. Capito said the pinch hurts drivers and urged firm steps to limit Iran’s nuclear program.  MetroNews

HEALTH NEWS

  • On Wednesday, WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals unveiled its second Bonnie’s Bus mobile mammography unit to serve rural and underserved areas by providing digital screening and education (honoring Bonnie Wells Wilson’s legacy) and has already given more than 30,000 mammograms.  WSAZ

  • The Wayne County Special Olympics track and field event was held on Apr. 30 at Spring Valley High School with all 18 schools and local agencies including the Cabell-Wayne Association of the Blind attending at 9 a.m.  WSAZ
