- ➤ Seventeen workers who died in the past year were honored during the 38th annual Workers Memorial Day ceremony held Tuesday at Barboursville City Park, where names were read and a bell rung. West Virginia AFL-CIO President Josh Sword stressed the need for efforts to keep workplaces safe+ avoid more tragedies. MetroNews
- ➤ The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources closed the boat ramp at Green Bottom Wildlife Management Area near Route 2 in Lesage in March due to dumping and illegal burning. Local fishermen now travel 15 miles to launch and hope DNR reopens the ramp soon (officials are reviewing solutions). WSAZ

- ➤ On April 28, 1924, West Virginia suffered two major mining disasters & the Benwood Mine explosion took 119 lives. This event followed the Eccles Mine explosion in Raleigh County that claimed 183 lives. WSAZ

- ➤ Dr. Ashley Stephens from Cabell County Schools visited First Look at Four today to share summer learning opportunities available for students this year; he provided details on programs designed to prepare them for a successful summer. WSAZ
- ➤ Students from several high schools gathered Tuesday at Marshall University in Huntington for the Best of the Class celebration (an honor for academic achievement), while proud parents attended to support their success. WSAZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ WV 511 closed the right lane on I-64 Westbound near mile markers 25 to 26 in the Milton area yesterday for patching operations + the closure lasted until 3 p.m. and caused driver delays. WSAZ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced that the state is offering $28.56 million to support rural healthcare through programs including Mountain State Care Force, HealthTech Appalachia & the Connected Care Grid, with eligible organizations able to apply via the state procurement portal. MetroNews
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Marshall defensive back Cam Smith and wide receiver Floyd Lacey have been invited to NFL rookie camps (Smith with the Kansas City Chiefs and Lacey with the New England Patriots).
