- ➤ At 9 a.m. Monday, crews responded to a crash on Rt. 60 in Huntington near the West Virginia State Police Barracks—where an SUV caught fire after hitting a semi truck—and no injuries were reported. WSAZ

- ➤ After more than three decades in business, Purple Earth Comics closed its doors on April 22 in Huntington. Owner Jarrod Greer of Inner Geek said on Facebook that he acquired longtime operator John Horst's stock and began clearing out the store as part of Horst's retirement. WOWK-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ TSA intercepted a loaded 9mm handgun with five bullets at West Virginia International Yeager Airport on Saturday, and police questioned a Daniels resident while confiscating the weapon—he now faces a criminal citation. WOWK-TV
- ➤ Huntington police said two people were shot on the 2400 block of Collis Avenue just after 11 p.m. Sunday and taken to a local hospital where they are listed as critical but stable — detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call the tip line at 304-696-4444. WOWK-TV
- ➤ The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said that 17-year-old Rosie Brotherton was last seen on April 27 at her home in Clendenin wearing red sweatpants and a red tank top and that she left intentionally—she may be heading toward Huntington, and anyone with information should call 304-357-0169 or 304-357-0556. - ➤ Huntington City Council approved a bit more than $1.3 million from the opioid settlement fund to build a low barrier shelter at 96 3rd Avenue West that will offer emergency services. Mayor Farrell said he is fast-tracking the project so the shelter will open before winter + help provide longer term support and safe conditions for the neighborhood. WOWK-TV
- ➤ Justice Beth Walker said in a letter to chief justice Wooton that she will retire on June 27 to spend more time with her family and keep the court stable. Walker, who joined the court in 2017 and led it through a tough impeachment process (which ended in 2018), remains a respected leader. MetroNews
