  • Marshall University's radio station WMUL-FM held its 16th annual Hair from the Herd event on Thursday to support Wigs for Kids— a nonprofit that provides free wigs to children with hair loss. Community members donated hair that was at least six inches long.  WOWK-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Toyota West Virginia announced on April 23 that it will invest another $88 million in its Buffalo facility that builds hybrid transaxles—this adds to over $2.8 billion already spent in the plant and includes a $100K donation to the Marshall center.  Charleston Gazette-Mail

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Patrick Morrisey announced at Independence Hall in Wheeling on April 23 that he will call a special session after more progress is made over the next few months to address PEIA and education funding issues—further details on the session's timing and agenda remain pending.  Charleston Gazette-Mail

HEALTH NEWS

  • CAMC Teays Valley Hospital hosted a groundbreaking celebration in Hurricane on Thursday morning as officials broke ground on a new 50,000 square foot building that will add operating rooms, beds, a nursing unit, and 120 extra parking spots—steps designed to improve patient care. Construction will begin soon with a planned completion in December 2026.  MetroNews
