CRIME NEWS

  • A judge ruled at Cabell County courthouse that Cherylethia 'Bunny' Holmes (who wore a bulletproof vest) was not eligible for parole until 2026.  WSAZ
  • Cherylethia 'Bunny' Holmes arrived at Cabell County Circuit Court just before 9 a.m. on Friday wearing a bullet proof vest for her parole eligibility hearing after ordering a murder in 2004—however, her scheduled release was halted by a temporary restraining order filed by Cabell County Prosecutor Jason Spears.  WSAZ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Blenko Glass in Milton will host a two-day Festival of Glass starting Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3 to celebrate Appalachian arts and live glassblowing. The event will feature a special release of Blenko products on Friday and an 8 a.m. glass sale on Saturday — followed by games, giveaways, music from local performers, hands-on glassmaking sessions, and food trucks.  WCHS-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Each school nominated a teacher and a service person and an awards ceremony honored those individuals—recognizing exceptional dedication and support in our education system.  WSAZ
  • High school students learned about dual enrollment and early college courses at Marshall University’s Herd Academy open house, where families got details on earning college credits in high school. A second session for online courses is scheduled for April 24 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (via Microsoft Teams).  WSAZ
