SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Marshall University’s Board of Governors approved a $38,925,985 athletics budget for the fiscal year starting July 1, with 54% of the funds coming from the university and 46% expected from the athletics department. Director Christian Spears and CFO Debra Broughton said the plan covers salaries, scholarships and upgrades such as a $1.8 million deck at the Shewey Athletic Center—construction is set to begin next week while the department plans to earn outside revenue with events like country singer Zach Bryan’s August 30 concert.
