- ➤ Senators passed Senate Bill 761 (the Joel Archer Substance Abuse Intervention Act) during a Saturday session and it changes the rules for when someone can be held in a hospital for substance use or mental health issues. The law adds new reasons for hospital care and sets rules for proving the need for treatment so families have another tool to try and save a life. MetroNews
- ➤ The West Virginia House of Delegates advanced HB 2013 to one reading away from final passage after a committee vote, and the bill would remove civil service status and grievance access from employees at the Bureau of Senior Services, Department of Administration, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Revenue, and Department of Veterans’ Assistance. Similar bills for employees at the Department of Economic Development and Department of Tourism are pending Senate review—official votes are expected soon. Charleston Gazette-Mail

- ➤ After seven practices, Herd head coach Tony Gibson said the offense must improve following a live scrimmage Friday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium where Sun Belt officials watched about 100 plays—he added that the team will have seven more practices before the Green-White Spring Game on April 12 and noted NFL representatives attended Pro Day while players helped patch potholes in Huntington.
