  • Local music teacher Kelly Childers and Dr. Ashley Stephens from Cabell County Schools visited First Look at Four to discuss the role music plays in a well-rounded education—sharing their view that a strong music program helps shape well-rounded students.  WSAZ
  • Marshall University announced a new 'prosperity hub' in its Innovation District on March 25 — a partnership with Intuit that is expected to bring 250 jobs to students and graduates.  Charleston Gazette-Mail

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The House passed a bill on Wednesday that changes foster care rules by allowing a child in a foster home for more than 15 months or 50% of their life to stay if the placement is deemed fit by the state—lawmakers now send the bill to the Senate for further review. The bill aims to reduce the trauma from frequent moves among foster children.  MetroNews
  • The West Virginia Senate passed SB 579, a bill that will end local anti-discrimination rules in many cities and limit local control—Senator Ryan Weld called it 'dumb' during debate. TJ explained the bill and shared details of the Senate floor reaction.  MetroNews
  • Governor Patrick Morrisey signed House Bill 2354 into law on March 26th—banning harmful food dyes from being used in school lunches.  WSAZ
