EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Smart529 announced the winners of its essay contest on Monday, Mar. 23, recognizing local student writers and awarding prizes for their outstanding work + the winners will be featured on the organization’s website. WSAZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers passed a bill providing $12 million in permanent EMS funding from lottery funds (a first for county EMS agencies). The funds, divided into $6 million for a mental health treatment fund, $3 million for county commissions and $3 million statewide, will help local EMS agencies save lives pending the governor's signature. - ➤ Huntington City Council voted Monday night to extend the Paul Ambrose Trail for Health, a measure expected to boost walking and biking options for local residents. The decision propels the project forward for future community use. WSAZ
