CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded to a domestic call in Huntington where shots were exchanged in an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead and a deputy injured on Mar. 19th.  WSAZ
  • One person was injured in a reported shooting on Wednesday afternoon near the 2000 block of 11th Avenue in Huntington; the injured individual was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital and temporary lockdowns at Southside Elementary and Huntington Middle School were lifted.  MetroNews
  • A reported shooting on the 2000 block of 11th Avenue injured one person who was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital—Southside Elementary and Huntington Middle were placed on lockdown though officials said there was no threat to either school.  WSAZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Huntington Mayor Patrick Farrell held listening sessions since taking office in January to ask residents what neighborhood improvements they want, with many stressing the need for clean sidewalks, working streetlights, and ways to reduce homelessness. He shared survey results (which highlighted simple safety needs) and said a growing population will show that changes are working (residents remain hopeful of safer neighborhoods).  WSAZ
