- ➤ HB 2003 (a governor-proposed measure) advanced by the House Education Committee today would ban cell phones from classrooms during instruction by requiring county boards to set policies for the next school year and document violations in the state system. Gov. Patrick Morrisey said the bill allows exceptions for students with individualized education programs or diabetes using connected devices (for medical aids) and will next be considered by the full House. - ➤ On Monday afternoon, West Virginia State University President Ericke Cage spoke with WVSU Board of Governors chairman Mark Kelly at the P. Ahmad Williams Auditorium in Ferrell Hall and outlined plans to evolve the university amid enrollment challenges. Cage said the institution will boost access and update programs by launching the Yellowjacket Pledge, building an agriculture lab due by 2028, and converting its cybersecurity minor to a Bachelor of Science degree for Spring 2026.
