- ➤ The West Virginia Senate passed Senate Bill 592 Friday—exempting oil and gas tanks near public water intakes from mandated checks and rolling back water safety measures after the 2014 Elk River leak affected 300,000 people. - ➤ Marshall University in Huntington may lose $1.4 million in indirect cost recovery funding for health research after the NIH proposed cutting facilities and administrative funds in February 2025—this proposal could force the university to adjust its research budget for future projects.
