CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Newspaperman Jim Comstock was born in Richwood on Feb. 25, 1911, and taught at Richwood High before he founded the weekly West Virginia Hillbilly. He passed away in 1996 but his work remains a part of local history. WSAZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The West Virginia House Education Committee passed a bill repealing a law that allowed high school athletes to transfer schools freely, and the measure will move to the House floor for a vote. It will need Senate approval and the Governor’s signature before becoming law. WSAZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Legislators reached a deal on a House Finance bill that changes Hope Scholarship payments to quarterly installments starting fiscal 2027 while keeping current funding intact. Final details will be confirmed today as lawmakers move forward with the proposal. MetroNews
