- ➤ Facing Hunger Foodbank is launching three mobile units (this week) to extend food services to residents in Huntington, ensuring easier access to food for those in need. WSAZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Huntington Children's Museum hosted a Build-a-Bot event on Sunday where teen volunteers helped children build robots with cubelets to learn coding. The museum will also host its free Mini Movers event this Friday, Feb. 6 (10 a.m.) for toddlers to play. WSAZ
- ➤ Legislators are considering two bills that would restrict high school transfers by setting deadlines to maintain athletic eligibility, with requirements for moves during eighth grade and the early years of high school. The changes will take effect 2026-27 if approved + are now in education committees. WCHS-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City crews are repairing water main breaks downtown after disruptions in service were reported Monday night. Repairs will continue today as officials work to restore water flow (city authorities are closely monitoring progress). WSAZ
- ➤ Icy conditions keep the Willow Island Lock and Dam closed on the Ohio River, leaving 14 barges waiting as the Army Corps of Engineers works to clear the ice. Warmer temperatures later this week may allow the lock to reopen. MetroNews
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ SSgt. Andrew Wolfe has made strong progress in an in-patient rehab facility for six weeks and is set to begin residential rehab lasting 8 to 12 weeks. His cranioplasty in early March aims to boost his independence as he recovers from injuries sustained while serving with the National Guard. WSAZ
