- ➤ Officials loaded water tanks (each holds 275 gallons) at the Huntington Drum Company on Wednesday morning to help Wayne farmers address the local water shortage affecting livestock. Jason Ekers with the Guyan Conservation District said farms with large animals received a tank while smaller operations must use bottled water. WSAZ
- ➤ Dunlow Community Center is helping families affected by the water crisis by offering a food pantry and showers; food is available today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and those needing showers should call to schedule an appointment. WSAZ
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ State Higher Education Chancellor Sarah Armstrong Tucker asked the House Finance Committee for $290,000 to fully support the dual enrollment program serving about 8,000 high school students — she warned that without additional funds the program may soon limit participation to juniors and seniors. - ➤ The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch starting Saturday morning through Monday morning, warning that heavy snow and potential ice could delay travel. Lowlands may see 5 to 10 inches of snow while mountain areas could collect up to a foot, so motorists should plan ahead + stay alert. MetroNews

- ➤ Sen. Jim Justice visited Rivers Health (a Marshall Health Network hospital) in Point Pleasant on Jan. 20 to inspect emergency department renovations and address planned health funding cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill. He expects those cuts to be lessened soon. Charleston Gazette-Mail

- ➤ West Virginia won its first road game at Arizona State with a 75-63 score at Desert Financial Arena on Jan. 21. Treysen Eaglestaff scored 23 points to spark a comeback from an early deficit as the Mountaineers improved to 4-2 in Big 12 play. MetroNews
- ➤ Marshall revamped its roster through the transfer portal, adding 25 players + losing 22 ahead of Tony Gibson’s second season, while planning future matchups. The team will host Gardner-Webb on Sept. 26 and begin a four-game series with Toledo starting Sept. 7, 2030. MetroNews
