- ➤ Thursday night, first responders in Mason County were honored for rescuing a semi-truck driver trapped as his rig dangled over a bridge on U.S. 35; firefighter Westley Quinn used a rope harness to pull the driver to safety last December. WSAZ

- ➤ Milton Supman (later known as Soupy Sales) was born Jan. 8 in Fanklinton, North Carolina and raised in Huntington where he began his career as a DJ at Marshall College. The city continues to honor his legacy with the Soupy Sales Plaza on Third Avenue. WSAZ

- ➤ WVU Medicine eased enrollment for nursing students with its Aspiring Nurse Program (launched yesterday) to simplify the path to nursing careers in our local health system. WSAZ

- ➤ State lawmakers plan to change the athlete transfer law after critics said it harms school teams and communities; the proposal would limit transfers to freshmen and sophomores and let athletes return to their original schools, with the measure to be introduced this session. WSAZ
