- ➤ On Jan. 5, 1878, West Virginia dedicated a new capitol building in Charleston with Governor Emanuel Wilson hosting a banquet; it served until a fire in 1921 burned it down, followed by another fire in 1927 before the current capitol was dedicated in 1932. WSAZ
- ➤ The West Virginia Division of Highways is installing a temporary bridge for residents of Lexington Estates (Hurricane) after support beam issues forced the original closure, and Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards said the permanent fix will take about a year and a half. WSAZ
